8 Cozy Ways to Decorate Your Home with Kanthas

Kanthas are one of our favorite go-to textiles here at Jungalow HQ. Additionally, they are found in several of the homes in The New Bohemians Handbook: Come Home to Good Vibes. We love their versatility – with so many patterns on both sides, switching up your look takes only as long as the flipping over of your blanket. They are rather lightweight, making them perfect all year long, and are great for layering.

The following are some of our favorite ways to change up your space with kanthas.

During the holidays making space for guests in a small apartment can be a challenge. Make an impromptu guest room out of a walk-in closet by hanging kanthas as curtains (above).

Similarly, this time of year can be drafty, therefore hanging kanthas is a patternful way to keep out the chill and stay cozy.

Give your sofa an instant freshen up without the cost of reupholstering – drape a kantha over the back of your couch. Alternatively, tuck it under the cushions for a more finished look. Added bonus? You can tuck your toesies under it if you get chilly.

Make a reversible ottoman cover (click here for the diy instructions).

Layer heavier blankets with lightweight kanthas to easily adjust your temperature in bed.

Kanthas hung on your wall gives the room immediate warmth, color and pattern. Not only is it an easy and affordable wall hanging option for renters, but being in California, it’s earthquake safe too.

Furthermore, and just in time for the holidays, while you enjoy filling your bellies, kanthas’ intricate stitching and patternfullness provides a visual feast for your eyes – be it as tablecloths, runners or vases .

Need extra seating for your boho lounge to relax pure and post dinner? Add a few kantha covered stools (above) and floor cushions (below) to the mix.
