Sometimes it can be hard to slow down and appreciate the time and effort it takes to make something from nothing. The slow fashion movement is a ray of hope in these times of mass production. Kinnari McDevitt, founder of Lali Kids, started her business in 2013 with the intention of slowing down the process of making and wearing clothing. Kinnari draws each print herself and employs small-scale printers and weavers to make adorable children’s wear.
“Lali” means “little darling” in Hindi, and embodies the magic and happiness of being a little girl. Lali was inspired by Kinnari’s childhood shared between India and the United States. Kinnari’s designs are inspired by her memories of bright, colorful silk saris and warm, aromatic fabric shops. She strives to create comfortable clothing that jungalinos will want to wear every day.
What do we love most about Lali (other than these adorable bonnets and bloomers)? That Kinnari hopes to create clothing that hat makes every little darling feel most herself!
