Progress report from the All New Jungalow HQ

Good morning from the all new Jungalow HQ! We took over this warehouse in May, reworked the space entirely and moved our things over last week! Our last studio space was so amazing. It will hold a special place in my heart for years to come. My business grew so much there, there was a sweet creative community and just a whole lotta good vibes in general–but with a growing staff and growing furniture collections as well, 700 sq. ft. was just not cutting it anymore. Plus we had no kitchen and I really needed to quit eating take-out every single day.

We ended up taking a space in the same neighborhood as where we were before (also walking distance from my home). The rent was about the same as what I was paying in our last place only this place (as you can see above and below in it’s ‘before’ state) was not in great shape. It needed a complete overhaul and so I decided that I’d prefer to keep my overhead the same but invest on the front end to whip the space in shape — plus I never met a design challenge I didn’t like!!

So, once my contractor helped me turn the space into a blank slate, I called up my pals over at Wayfair to see if they’d be game to help transform this warehouse into the all new Jungalow HQ–and to my luck they were. The reason I wanted to work with Wayfair is that I knew they carried just about everything we could ever need for the remodel — from appliances, to cement tiles, to modern desks and comfy, ergonomic office chairs — I new they’d be able to help with both the remodeling and the furnishing.

The is part of the ‘pitch deck’ that I sent to Wayfair when we were first putting heads together. Everything from lighting, to the dishwasher, sink and faucets to bathroom vanity, tile and dining/conference table would work together to create the earthy, relaxing (but energetic!) vibe I wanted for our studio space.  

You can see in the above pic the kitchen starting to take shape. We set the tone with El Coyoté lime wash from Portola Paint (more on that later) And from there we chose several delicious minty minty appliances that I new would pop off that terra cotta paint color in a very major way like the ceiling fans,  and of course, that Smeg refrigerator that I have been lusting after for YEARS. I also got the Moravian star pendant lamp that makes me feel like I’m in Mexico in a very good way.

And once the cement tile went up I new this kitchen was going to make me very (very!!) happy. Soooo good, right? Now we’re waiting for our floating shelves to go in so we can style it up — but my oh my am I loving these colors together.

And here is another peek at the studio from another angle. We still have a ton to do before it’s complete and totally jungalicious but it already feels soooo good to stretch out into a larger space. Working from here still feels very new — and we’re still unpacking boxes and figuring out where the best place to put our desks are but so far, I’m digging our new space — and another perk is that with these ceilings there is no shortage of places to hang crazy big, lush hanging plants — which has been a major goal for a while!!
