Bookcase Vertical Garden

Bookshelf-Planter-Justinas

If you’re like us, then you’ll agree that there’s no such thing as too many plants, but sometimes all those plants need somewhere to live! Over the weekend Justina whipped up this pretty little vertical garden, made out of a bookcase, which is the perfect plant-astic solution if you’re running out of surface space for your green friends.

Bookshelf-Planter-Side

If you already have a bookcase sitting around, then you’re pretty much done- just make sure your plants are looking their best in pretty pots, and get your shelfie on! We think a narrower shelf, with an open back is ideal for this project since your plants will need to still get enough light, but other than that, any kind of shelf will do! If you’re worried about water escaping the pot and ruining the shelf, use a cork mat under the pots, waterproof the shelf with paste wax, or a sealant (we prefer the natural route of paste wax), or use an outdoor or marine paint.

If you don’t happen to have a bookcase, we’ve rounded up some of our favorites from our partner Chairish, along with some fun vintage planters we found there too!

We’re already plotting more places we can add a bookcase vertical garden! To shop all the shelves and planters above, pop over to Chairish and check out all of our favorites here.
